Here’s the desk where I write, as it appeared in a previous apartment. I call it “Shepard Central.” It’s six feet high and six feet wide. I made it myself—the bottom part around 1980, the top shelves a few years later, after I got my first computer. Instead of the computer setup you see here, I now have a Mac Mini, running a single (but larger) LCD monitor.
